Business Association March Update

Lyttelton Harbour Business AssociationLyttelton Harbour Business Association  updates will be published as information becomes available in relation to the recovery of Local Lyttelton Harbour Businesses

Tomorrow (Friday 11th March) from 10-3 the team will have their mobile caravan in Lyttelton, and will be available to give advice and answer questions on a wide range of business recovery challenges and issues. Please pop down and talk to them - there will be a team of six advisers available to assist. The caravan will be outside Portico, near the St John Ambulance.

One issue raised at Tuesday's meeting was the large number of businesses impacted by a small number of key buildings which are currently hazardous. Discussions have commenced this afternoon with the heritage team from CCC regarding the stabilising or removal of buildings in London Street which are impacting on the ability of others to open their businesses and begin trading again. Participants in this meeting left tasked with jobs to progress this, and I would hope to be able to provide an update soon. Great that we have been able to get some activity on this issue so quickly.

More businesses reopening. Currently the Dairy is open from 7am to 10pm, the Pharmacy from 9am to 530pm, Lyttelton Coffee Company is open outside the library, the Fishermans Wharf restaurant is open, and the Lyttelton Club (Top Club) is open from 2pm. Mondo Vino is also open normal hours.

Lyttel Piko is reopening tomorrow, and I am awaiting information on Leslies Bookshop and the Bakery, both of which I understand are hoping to be running from temporary premises by next week. If you know of other businesses which are operating, or about to restart operating, please advise.

The BNZ are going to be running a temporary mobile bank branch from outside Portico, by the St John's Ambulance premises. It is expected it will take a week or so to set this up - it is being brought down from Auckland and being refitted. Details on services to be provided will follow as we have them..

The IRD have set up a desk at the recovery office at the recreation centre for anyone who wishes to discuss tax affairs - late payments, lost paperwork, late filing of returns etc. Please approach them with any issues.

I trust you find the above update useful. We will continue to update you with any further information as it becomes available.
