Over 150 recipes were collected from local residents: including parents, business people, artists, writers, and prominent chefs.

Sadly as a result of the magnitude 6.3 aftershock on 22nd February, people within our community have lost family, friends and neighhours. In addition, many people have lost their homes and businesses and many of the historic buildings within Lyttelton have been badly damaged, with demolition likely for many.

As the book was published in 2009 it provides a snapshot of Lyttelton as it was pre 22nd February and is a valuable memento of things as they were. The town's two primary schools – Lyttelton Main and Lyttelton West were closed for 13 days after the quake but thankfully both were able to reopen once repairs were completed.
