  • 1 10.00am. Discover Lyttelton. Guided walk by Project Lyttelton and Living Streets guide, Wendy Everingham. Walk many of Lyttelton’s secret walkways. Moderate, including uphill and steps. Depart Information Centre. Duration, 1 hour. $3 adult, children free.
  • 2 1.30pm. Coffee Passion Walk and Taste Tour. Guided tour visit of six coffee locations in Lyttelton. Enjoy tastings and the aromatic atmosphere inside Lyttelton’s unique coffee houses. Harbour Kitchens new cookbook locations. Tour starts at Lyttelton Coffee Company Cafe. 1.5 hours easy walking. $5.
  • 3 6.30pm. Very Steep Streets of Lyttelton. Guided by Cher Hunter (personal trainer, nutritional health guru, www.somebody.co.nz) Discover and walk the steepest streets we can find in Lyttelton. Depart Min Sarginson Real Estate office, London Street. 1- 1.5 hours. Fit.

Meeting point is the car park of Heritage Village A gentle walking terrain for anyone, especially for those who are hesitant to walk because of physical discomfort. Hire for equipment, $5. Maximum of 20 people.

  • 12 10am. Orton Bradley Park. Depart from the stables in the park. View the colourful rhododendrons, magnificent trees and shrub collection. Moderate fitness. 1.5 hours return. Park admission fees $3 adults, $8 family.
  • 13 10am. Gondola, Ride and Walk. All weekend. Take the lift up or down and walk to/from Lyttelton or car park. $12 adult one way. Easy/moderate.
  • 14 10am. Ohinetahi Garden. Governors Bay. Explore the famous gardens and parklands of Sir Miles Warren. Includes garden hosting and free time to walk around the remarkable landscape. 2 hours. Easy. $15 includes return transport. Departs from Lyttelton Harbour Information Centre and returns 12noon. (Tour not suitable for active children. Reservations essential.)
  • 15 10.30am. Playground to Playground walk. Start at Oxford St playground and walk to Corsair Bay playground. One way 1 hour. One way.
  • 16 11am. Depart Ferrymead Golf (Driving range) for a guided flat walk via Historic Village and landscapes of Heathcote Valley. One way to the Gondola car park. 1.5 hours. Optional travel up the gondola, continue to Lyttelton via the gondola and the bridle path. Return own arrangements. Frequent bus 35 route.
  • 17 11am. Governors Bay–Allandale Coastal Beach Road walkway. One way. 1 hour plus, freedom walking back. Departs from She Choclat Café.
  • 18 11.30am. Gaol Walk. 45 minutes. Departs from Lyttelton Information Centre. Discover Eliza Reston’s Lyttelton, (Matron of the Gaol 1855-1876) by storyteller Margaret Copland $5. Easy.

Walk part of the scenic Cliff Track down to Purau with Local experienced guide Pauline Croft, returning via Bay View Road and finish at Godley House for coffee. Depart Lyttelton on Black Cat ferry. Pauline will meet you on arrival at 1.45pm on the Diamond Harbour jetty. 1-1.5 hours moderate. Ferry own expense. Metrocards accepted. $5.

  • 28 10am. Shutterbugs Diamond Harbour. Depart Lyttelton on Black Cat ferry wharf at 10am and /or meet at the jetty in Diamond Harbour.  Tour commences at Diamond Harbour Wharf 10.15am. For intermediate/advanced photographers. Easy walk and shoot for 2.5 hours. $10.

Travel via Major Hornbrook, Crater Rim, and Captain Thomas tracks. Your own arrangements to return- on city bus route. Meet Lyttelton Harbour Information Centre. 3 hours. Moderate fitness.
  • 39 1pm. Edible Weeds Walk. 2hrs. Join Cynthia and discover a whole larder of tasty plants and flowers just outside your back door. Walk to Cressy Terrace and stroll as you learn about the abundance of nutritious edible weeds that inhabit our walkways, gardens, lawns and paths. Departs from Lyttelton Harbour Information Centre. $5 each proceeds to Lyttelton Time Bank. Easy/ moderate.
